MITSUBISHI AND ELONEX SIGN TECHNOLOGY AGREEMENT

LONDON, England, January 25, 2000 -- London-based PC manufacturer Elonex Plc today announced that it has reached agreement with Mitsubishi Electric Corporation and Mitsubishi Electronics America, Inc. regarding the licensing of Elonex’s power-management technology which has been the subject of recent legal actions between them in California and Delaware. Power-management allows personal computer display monitors to consume less power after user-defined or default idle periods.

The terms of the agreement are confidential, but the effect is that the California and Delaware legal actions will be discontinued; and Mitsubishi obtains a license under Elonex’s power management patents worldwide. Elonex’s power management patents comprise more than twenty independent claims directed to the power management of peripheral devices including display monitors and enable PC systems to be energy efficient.

Mitsubishi is the latest global monitor maker to license Elonex's technology. Elonex has previously licensed Hewlett-Packard, Hitachi, Phillips and Nokia.

Elonex's Commercial Director Michael Spiro said that he views the agreement with Mitsubishi as a positive outcome for Elonex’s business.
